Do you have a classical music event to promote? Consider listing it in the 4MBS Music Diary!
The Music Diary is a list of classical music concerts read daily on-air on 4MBS Classic FM. It’s become a popular way to discover classical events in and around Brisbane, and a valuable tool to promote your event to local classical music lovers!
Please read the General Conditions below before submitting an event.
General Conditions
It should be noted that items in the Music Diary are notices only and not advertisements. (This means we list the event in its essential form without fancy language).
Submissions must include:
- Full name and composer of the works performed in your event
- Full name of the performers featured and their specialisation (soprano, piano, trumpet, etc)
- Full venue address
- Ticket prices
- Contact number for bookings/enquiries
- Please read notices currently listed in the Music Diary and submit material in that format.
- There are no deadlines for the submission of information, but it is left to the person submitting the information to ensure it reaches us in time.
Remember, the clearer the information provided the better the event will look!
Nature of Events
Events promoted through the 4MBS Music Diary must relate primarily to classical music, and the majority of the music performed is classical music. Events which mainly contain works from musicals, jazz, rock music, etc, cannot be included in the Music Diary. Events which are primarily ceremonial in nature and not intended solely for entertainment should not be submitted for inclusion in the Music Diary. Special Christmas events do not qualify for inclusion in the Music Diary unless the majority of the works to be performed are by recognized classical music composers.
Images and Links to Other Sites
- Images should depict performers or venues only with no text or any other illustration appearing in the image
- Images must be in colour and be 370 px wide by 300 px deep (or any larger size in the same proportion)
- Please note that the online Music Diary format shows a date in a block at the top left corner of the image which will obscure details of the image in that location.
4MBS reserves the right to determine the suitability or otherwise of images submitted.
Links to other sites are not included in Music Diary notices, which are intended as stand-alone notices and not as gateways to publicity or bookings through other websites. Events which may be booked through the 4MBS Ticketing Service are the only exception from this.
Other Conditions
Persons submitting information for inclusion in the Music Diary acknowledge that 4MBS reserves the right to edit, amend or reject any such material.
While every effort will be made to publicise events submitted within the usual Music Diary guidelines, no absolute guarantee of inclusion can be given and no monetary compensation can be offered for the non inclusion of an event. No liability shall vest with 4MBS for any loss or damages incurred by any person arising from information publicised through the Music Diary.

Single Events
A single event is an event which occurs once only. The same type of event which is repeated on one or more following days is not a single event. Hence, a chamber music concert which is presented on (say) a Saturday evening with no additional performances is a single event. Should the same concert be repeated the following night, it becomes a separate event for Music Diary purposes and a fee would be required for the listing of each event individually. The same concert repeated over a number of days is a number of single events. An exception applies if the same concert is performed at the same venue a number of times on the one day. Thus, a concert which is presented in the afternoon and, again, the same evening in the same venue can be regarded as a single event for Music Diary purposes.

Registration Levels
As a community radio station, 4MBS is dedicated to supporting local musicians, promoters and their events – therefore, we subsidise the Music Diary. This makes it an effective form of publicity at a significantly smaller fraction of normal publicity costs. See below for the different levels of registration available! Remember, though, that items included in the Music Diary are listings and not advertisements.
Two levels of registration are available for the promotion of an event. The higher level gives your event more time on the 4MBS website – a place many people are looking these days to find events of interest. The longer your event is on our website, the better chance there is for music lovers to find it and make plans to attend!
Please note that for registration purposes, a single event is an event which involves just one performance or more than one performance occurring on the same day at the same venue.
