There must be few people who have not been touched in one way or another by the music of the Strauss family. Their music continues to enchant millions across the world, be it by virtue of enjoyment of fine music, dancing or simply as components of television commercials. The Strauss family could be said to have been musically active from Johann I’s first ascension to the role of performer with Michael Pamer’s Orchestra in the second decade of the 19th century to the death of Johann Strauss III (the son of Eduard Strauss) in 1939.
The aim of this series programs is to present as derailed and accurate representation of the lives and music of Johann I and his three musical sons (Johann II, Josef and Eduard). This is the first time that such an initiative has been undertaken in the history of 4MBS Classic FM and it is hoped that it provides an enjoyable as well as informative commemoration of the Station’s 43rd anniversary of going to air.
