Sir Andrian Boult described the Scottish tenor Kenneth McKellar as the best Handel singer of the 20th Century. During 1959 – 60 McKellar recorded Handel arias with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden with Boult conducting. In 1961 he recorded more Handel arias with Boult and the London Symphony Orchestra for a recording of the Messiah. This CD includes arias from both recordings.
