4MBS BRISBANE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
The Brisbane Shakespeare Festival began in 2007 as the "Shakespeare on Oxford" festival along the chic Oxford Street in Brisbane's riverside suburb of Bulimba.
It is now a highly anticipated, annual event, having grown to also include the "Shakespeare by the Bay" weekend in the charming seaside suburb of Sandgate. Previous festivals have also included performances in South Brisbane's Musgrave Park and most recently in the trendy Gasworks precinct in Newstead.
Festivals have featured superb performances by Brisbane's finest Shakespearean actors, plus the involvement of local groups - most notably, Prima Spada School of Fence. See slideshows below!
