Have you ever been told you have a voice
for radio?

Are you looking to improve
your confidence and communication
skills?

Do you ever wonder what goes on
behind the scenes of a classical station?


The 4MBS Radio Course is designed to allow participants* to receive personalised
and comprehensive instruction in order to:
• Gain an understanding of the role of Community Radio in society;
• Understand the day-to-day operation of 4MBS and associated stations;
• Learn and practise the fundamentals of announcing on air, with particular
reference to understanding “target” audiences;
• Learn and practise the art of choosing music for on-air programs and scripting a
program for air-play; and,
• Produce a program of music and accompanying script to an “on-air” standard.
This course will be spread over three days. Day 1 will cover various theory and
related topics, and Days 2 and part of Day 3 will be given to practical completion of
the task and a final review of the work done.

Piano Recitals

Hear internationally acclaimed pianists Mark Hooper and John Granger Fisher perform some of the great romantic repertoire, including music of Liszt and Chopin.

Mark Hooper is a graduate of the Queensland
Conservatorium of Music, London’s Royal College of Music, and Banff Centre Canada, and is a former lecturer in piano at Oxford University. Mark has performed in Australasia, the UK, Europe, and Canada, and recorded five solo CDs, including a CD of Beethoven’s Sonatas.

John Granger Fisher is the recipient of many Australian and International piano awards. John has given solo recitals at prestigious venues around the world including Carnegie Hall, New York and Wigmore Hall, London. He has appeared
as a soloist on many occasions with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. An experienced chamber musician, John has performed with UK, US and Australian
ensembles. He has worked with leading Australian instrumentalists and singers.

Shakespeare Dance Workshop

Dance was incredibly important in Shakespeare’s world: It was an everyday recreation enjoyed in all places, from
the royal court to the lowliest tavern. Many of his plays included dances, especially in the final act where they
portrayed a harmonious conclusion.

Join dance historian Dr Heather Clarke with live music by Phillip’s Dog for an introduction to these lively dances.
