The program will commence with Sir Arthur Bliss’s Fanfare Homage to Shakespeare, include brass arrangements of music from Shakespeare’s time, brass transcriptions of highlights from Shakespeare- inspired operas (such as Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette) and also Macbeth inspired compositions (notably Peter Meechan’s Lament from ‘Macbeth’).
6.30am VIENNA AND BEYOND | Keep those Witches Dancing

The program will concentrate on music written by composers including Sullivan, Granville Bantock Briccialdi, Richard Leveridge and of course Giuseppe Verdi, all of it inspired by the witches in Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Local composers make up most of this program! Hear eight overtures to Shakespeare’s plays that were commissioned by 4MBS Classic FM from local composers P Bonetti, Kopetz, Brumby, Cronin, Beath, Seeto, Healy and Lawrence. The program begins with 20th Century English composer William Walton’s Macbeth, Fanfare and March, arranged by Palmer.
